Position Summary: KANU is seeking experienced and reliable tutors to join our team. Tutors will work
one-on-one or with small groups of students to provide targeted, individualized English Language Arts or
Math instruction through extended lessons, creative teaching, and interactive materials. Tutors must
attend scheduled professional development and document student progress to discuss with academic
coach, administration and classroom teachers. The ideal candidate has experience working with children
and teens, is a team player, and can and provide the extra care and attention needed to motivate struggling
learners. Hawaiian Language and culture proficiency is a plus.

Requirements
Minimum requirements and qualifications:
• High school degree or equivalent; Associate’s degree, or two (2) years or more of full-time
college coursework equivalent.
• Must be able to pass background check & provide TB Test Clearance.
• Successful experience working with students in grades K-5 and/or grades 6-12.
• Able to work 8 to 19 hours per week.
• Able to work with a range of age/grade levels.
• Must be able to work flexibly between 8am to 3pm Monday through Thursday, and 8am to 12pm
Friday. If able to tutor before (7:25 – 7:55am) and after school (3:00-4:00pm), that’s a plus.
*Exact schedule to be determined when hired with hours not to exceed 19 hours per week.
• Strong computer skills, organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
• Efficient time management.
• Able to serve as a positive role model and mentor.
